Blue Cut vs Anti-Glare vs Crizal Lenses: Which Should You Choose? (With Prices)

The frame is only half of a pair of glasses. The lens decides how clearly you see, how the glasses look in photos, and how long they last. Online, lens options tend to be listed as a wall of jargon. This guide explains the options we actually fit at Deepak Optical, in plain words, with our real prices.

The quick answer

LensPrice (added to frame)Best for
Hard coat lens₹250Everyday wear on a budget
Blue cut lens₹350Long hours on phones, laptops and screens
Magnus lens₹600Better clarity and impact resistance
Crizal lens₹1,800Premium anti-reflective, scratch- and smudge-resistant

These prices apply to -6.00 / -2.00 to +2.00 / +2.00 (SPH / CYL). Higher powers need a special-order lens, and we confirm the price with you before making it.

Hard coat lenses

Clear prescription lenses that correct your power. They're the most affordable option and a sensible choice for a backup pair, for a child who may outgrow their prescription soon, or for anyone who simply wants to see clearly without extras.

Blue cut lenses

Blue cut (also called blue-light filtering, or "computer lenses") have a coating that filters part of the blue light from screens and LED lighting. Many people who spend the day on a laptop or phone prefer them, and they are the most popular upgrade for office workers and students.

An honest note: a blue cut lens is a filter, not a treatment. If your eyes feel tired after screen work, regular breaks and an up-to-date prescription matter too, and an eye test is the right first step if the discomfort continues.

Anti-glare (anti-reflective) lenses

An anti-reflective coating cuts reflections on the lens surface. In practice that means fewer reflections from headlights and street lights when driving at night, less glare from tube lights and screens, and less shine in photos and video calls, so people see your eyes rather than a reflection.

Magnus lenses

A step up from hard coat lenses, with improved clarity and better resistance to knocks. A good middle ground if you wear your glasses all day and want them to last.

Crizal lenses

Crizal is Essilor's premium coated lens range. It combines a strong anti-reflective coating with scratch resistance and a surface that repels smudges, water and dust, so it stays clean longer. If you wear glasses from morning to night and hate cleaning them, Crizal is worth considering.

Single vision, bifocal or progressive?

This is a different question from the coating. It depends on your prescription:

  • Single vision: one power across the whole lens, for distance or reading.
  • Bifocal: distance on top, reading at the bottom, with a visible line.
  • Progressive: distance to near with no visible line.

If your prescription has an ADD value, you'll be choosing between bifocal and progressive. See our guide on how to read your eye prescription, or message us to confirm the price for your exact prescription.

Which lens should you pick?

  • Mostly on screens: blue cut.
  • Driving at night, or you want the clearest look: an anti-reflective option such as Crizal.
  • Glasses on all day and you want them to last: Magnus or Crizal.
  • Backup pair or tight budget: regular.
