If you need glasses, you do not have to choose between seeing well and wearing sunglasses. Here is how prescription and progressive sunglasses work, in plain words.
Prescription sunglasses
These are sunglasses with your prescription in the lens, plus a tint. You get clear sight and shade in one pair. On EYVRO, tinted lenses (brown, black, blue and green) are ₹700 per pair, added to the frame price. See sunglasses and the lens price list.
Progressive sunglasses
If you wear progressive glasses, you can have progressive sunglasses. One lens gives distance, middle and near vision with no visible line, and a tint cuts the brightness. They suit people who drive, travel or walk outside a lot and also read a map or phone. Our guide to progressive lenses vs bifocals explains how they work and how long they take to get used to.
Note: the sunglass lens options at checkout on EYVRO are tints only. If you want progressive sunglasses, message us first with your prescription and the frame you like, and we will tell you what is possible.
Reading sunglasses
These have a plus reading power for use outdoors, such as on the beach or by the pool. Ask what style suits you. See what reading glasses power numbers mean.
Three things to check
- UV protection. It is separate from the dark colour. Ask for 100% UV protection. See how to choose durable sunglasses and understand UV protection.
- The tint. Grey keeps colours natural, and brown adds contrast. See polarized vs UV-protected.
- The frame. Very curved wrap frames may not suit strong prescriptions.
Strong prescription?
A strong prescription needs a thinner lens, and a large sunglass frame can make edges look thick. Send us your prescription before you pick a frame. See thick lenses and high-index options.
